Models and insulation
The standard rooms have 72mm double-skinned walls with EcoQuilt insulation. The Premium rooms have 100mm walls and an insulated roof and floor.1 Sizes run from about 7 x 13ft to 20.5 x 16.5ft, and the DIY room comes in widths of 2m to 4m.1
The Premium models are Thoresby, Edwinstowe, Rufford, Harlow and Creswell.1 For a room you'll use all year, the Premium spec is the one to compare with installed garden rooms.
What's included and what's not
- Included: installation on the Classic and Premium rooms.1 Delivery is free to most UK postcodes, though insulated rooms can carry a surcharge.9
- Not included: the base. You need a concrete or slab base in place first.1
- Electrics: not mentioned, so budget for an electrician.
The installers need direct access, a level site and 40cm of clear space around the building. They can't carry it through a house, garage or a neighbour's property.4
Lead times and upkeep
Waltons says its log cabins are made to order, with a call to arrange delivery within 28 working days.9 Ask what applies to the garden room you choose. The factory treatment lasts about 3 months, so you'll need to treat the timber yourself to keep the anti-rot guarantee. Twisting, warping and splitting aren't covered.5
